Screen Shot 2015-11-29 at 3.09.44 PMIn order to avoid the most dangerous impacts of global climate change, scientists have proposed that we need to reduce our carbon emissions by 80% by 2050, from a 1990 base.

To achieve this, between now and 2050, we will need to dramatically change the way we consume and produce energy. The challenge is to see if you can reduce our CO2 emissions by 80%, which will require some skill and thought. It is not easy, so solutions that are +/- 10% of that target could be submitted.

The game lets you take control and create your own energy pathway for the country. The game’s console consists of sliders which allow you to change how we use energy – more or less efficiently, in different sectors like housing or industry – and how we produce energy – whether we have more or less coal and other fossil fuels and how much solar and wind power you imagine. When your mouse hovers over a slider, a bubble will appear, telling you the impact of the decision you are about to make. You will see the impact of the changes on your home, your city and your country. The objective of the game is to move the sliders until the bar across the top reduces your emissions by 80% (+/- 10%).
