Petition “Energy for the Long Run” receives answer from the European Commission

“I would like to thank you for the letter with the signatures of the petition Energy for the Long Run. Commissioner Arias Cañete has asked me to reply.”

We did it! As promised and made possible by your signatures, we handed in the petition to Mr. Cañete on October 16 2015, during the Ministerial Council of Energy Community in Tirana, Albania. Signatures kept pouring in, in the end going well beyond 16 000.

A few days ago we got the official response from the European Commission’s DG Energy director, Ms Mechthild Wörsdörfer, proving our requests and the petition were spot on! And not only do they agree with us, but also share our vision! (The full letter in English is available below, as well as translations in South East Europe languages)

We would like to thank all of the CSO partners who participated in this activity, as well as all 16 309 people all over the region who signed it.
